Koomarm

              These  are the followers of the God Kali.  They are  known as Komarm or Velichappadu.  They are the mediators in between god and human. In Kerala there is a temple known as Kodugallur. Every year there is a Kodugallur Bharani festival. They perform uncontrolled dance with the chenda melam, slowly comes to half conscious and repeatedly slash their foreheads with their swords.They are offering  their own blood to the god kali.
